DAFT Writing presents a programme of workshops and readings celebrating north east writing talent.

DAFT Writers & Friends are invited to take part in a lightning strike Writing Workshop lead by Wayne Price – be prepared to work!

- Alison Lumsden, poet and senior lecturer at Aberdeen University, will talk about 20th century north-east writers including Shepherd and Gibbon: illustrating the traditions new writers of the region draw on today.
- Shane Strachan, Peterhead fiction writer focussing on north-east fishing communities, featuring Doric dialect. His work has been published widely and his drama staged in Aberdeen.
- Jen Cooper, Aberdeen poet and winner of Scottish Book Trust New Writer Award 2016. Her poems have been published in several literary magazines including
The Rialto, Ambit, New Writing Scotland and Envoi.
- Wayne Price, Aberdeen poet, fiction writer and winner of Scottish Book Trust New Writer Award 2011 is Co-Director of the WORD Centre for Creative Writing. His work is widely published and his poetry pamphlet Fossil Record was selected for the Laureate’s Choice series 2015 by Carol Ann Duffy.
