Chris McGeachie and Rosemary Taylor’s site specific work is in the previously disused West Pavilion - the environment created will expose the viewer to sensory experiences on the theme of decay and disintegration, and echo the loss of the original Banff Castle. Donald James Watson’s outdoor artwork uses the Castle grounds, sculptures that connect the viewer and space through engaging the senses.

What makes an artwork, or any other thing, of value, of worth? Is it: rarity, production cost, beauty utility, information it gives us, status from ownership, the celebrity of its creator, or is it something else? Why do we really feel we have such a singular entitlement to consume all the world’s resources? Surely it cannot really be because we think we are worth it.” David Hood, Banff & Buchan Arts Forum.

Blacksand Contemporary Arts was established in 2006 by artists and designers in the Kirkcaldy area - for mutual support, to create links with other artists and establish a programme of exhibitions and events – and to promote the development of contemporary art practice.
