Welcome to COAST

COAST Festival of the Visual Arts is an annual weekend of events that takes place in the beautiful Banffshire Coast towns of Banff & Macduff.

 

Welcome to Coast Festival number four. With a new committee and a new way of working it’s fitting that we have the theme of RENEWAL for our first year as a community led festival. You’ll see a wide range creative activities, exhibitions and entertainments in the brochure, run by groups of people from the towns of Banff and Macduff. We also have guest artists groups from Kirkcaldy and Aberdeen, as well as artists from around Aberdeenshire and beyond. Many events are linked to the theme of RENEWAL, often taking the discarded and unwanted products of our modern world and giving them a new future, finding beauty and infusing them with life. Do take time to see as much as you can and get involved at the workshops - I hope you have a great weekend.

OPENING EVENT - This year we will celebrate the launch of the Festival with the opening of the exhibition at Macduff Town Hall, “Flotsam, Jetsam, Lagan and Derelict”. Join us at 7pm on Friday 27th for refreshments and a first look at this unique exhibition of new artwork.

VENUE OPENING TIMES - please be aware that not all venues will be open every day. Check with the individual listing for information.

DISABLED ACCESS - all venues have appropriate disabled access. If you need further information prior to your visit please get in touch with the venue.

 

BUSSES - We are delighted to be able to confirm that a Coast Festival Bus will operate on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May between 10am and 4pm from outside Banff Castle. click here for information on stops

The Coast Committee would like to thank: Aberdeenshire Council staff at venues and all those who have supported the events - everyone who helped make Not the Royal Wedding a great night - volunteers at venues and workshops - the local businesses and individuals who have supported us - and everyone who comes and enjoys an event.

Coast is run by a Community Association, all our activities are not-for-profit. We are always looking for volunteers willing to get involved. You can contact us through www.coastfestival.org.uk and come along to our meetings.
