CALL TO ARTISTS TO PARTICIPATE IN A FINE & APPLIED ARTS FAIR AS PART OF A VISUAL ARTS FESTIVAL

COAST Festival of the Visual Arts will be taking place for the third year running in Banff & Macduff over the holiday weekend of 28th to 30th May 2010, supported by Aberdeenshire Council, Scottish Enterprise.

The Art Fair has proved to be great success over the last two years, attracting over 2000 visitors during the two days. Both participating artists and visitors alike have given very positive feedback of their experience.

The Festival is currently seeking fine and applied artists in various disciplines of the visual arts: including painters, sculptors, ceramicists, jewellers and photographers, to exhibit and sell work at the Art Fair, which is taking place as one of the main attractions of the Festival.

The Fair will be based at Macduff Town Hall; a prominent building in a central harbour location, with free on-road parking. The Main Hall will be professionally converted to provide exhibition space for 23 artists through the installation of a shell scheme of interlocked panels, providing a 8 x 16 ft display area per artist.

Set up will take place from the morning of Friday 28th May (Thursday 27th evening set up may also be available), the event will preview on the evening of Friday 28th May and the Fair will then be open Saturday and Sunday, with take-down taking place on Sunday evening. Artists must be available to attend the Festival; to set up, man their own stand and to take down.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please send the following to Jenny Ebdy by Friday 23rd January 2010:

• A note of interest, including all of your contact details ( e-mail, telephone and address)

• Examples of your work (on disk/memory stick, printed examples or referral to website)

• An indication of how your work is priced
• An image you are happy for us to use in the Festival brochure if you are selected

A selection panel will meet in January 2010 and artists will be notified of decisions in February 2010. If successful, artists are required to pay a flat fee of £50 + VAT to reserve their space and in addition, commission of 20%+VAT will be payable to COAST on all sales*

Please note, we receive more applications than we have space for and we are seeking a balanced selection of work, therefore not all applicants will be successful.

What COAST will supply:

• Professional exhibition space

• Assistance with installation and take-down of work

• Credit card payment facility for customers

• Marketing through our brochure and website and in other printed and online media

Please send your expression of interest to: Jenny Ebdy, Festival Manager, Macduff Art Centre, 39 Clergy Street, Macduff, AB44 1LP
