Welcome to COAST
COAST Festival of the Arts is an annual weekend of events that takes place in the beautiful Banffshire Coast towns of Banff & Macduff each year in the last full weekend in May..
Our Festival is a family-friendly programme of visual arts, music, workshops and public participation events. The programme features a huge range of venues, from Banff beach to Duff House, from pop-up shops to pubs. We produce a brochure, usually available in April, which you can also download from this website. We also have a Facebook page where you can follow the build-up to each Festival. www.facebook.com/coastartsfestival2014.
Theme for 2014 This year's theme will be "Coming Home"in line with 2014 being designated as second ‘Year of Homecoming’. A number of events will look at what Home means to us and will bring many creative activities out of local homes to be shared.
We welcome you to the twin towns at the mouth of the Deveron: whether you have always lived here, are returning for a visit, or in fact you've never been here before – we want to you feel at home and enjoy the Festival and the wonderful Banffshire Coast.
History The event started in 2008 and is run by volunteers from the community who believe the arts, culture and creativity of the area should be shared and celebrated. We have no core funding, so each year we raise the money we need to make it happen, through fundraising events, sponsorship, donations and advertising in our brochure. Our aim is to keep as many events as possible free to the public to encourage participation by everyone. An event like Coast can help foster community spirit and pride of place, as well as provide a platform for cultural activities that feed the soul.
Volunteers The vast majority of what we do is done by volunteers. If you would like to get involved to help us run the festival, or one event, do get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org, no experience of the arts is necessary.
Artists and Events If you have an idea you would like to propose, an event, workshop, exhibition or activity, please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you. It doesn't do any harm to ask. email@example.com.
Partners We work with a number of organisations and companies – we receive support in kind from Aberdeenshire Council and Banff Castle Community Association as well has involvement from many voluntary sector organisations in the area – we receive help in kind from AD Walker and other businesses. If your organisation would like to get involved please get in touch – we need your support. firstname.lastname@example.org.
